 First Night St. Petersburg Celebration
Spend the eve of 2009 enjoying an eclectic variety of activities throughout the downtown and across the waterfront. St. Petersburg rings in the New Year with music, lights, dance, fire, bubbles, stories, creative fun, fireworks and much more! First Night St. Petersburg celebrates its Annual New Year's Eve celebration of the arts from 5 p.m. to midnight at multiple venues. Family-oriented festivities with music stages, entertainment, drama, dance, games, art, fireworks and more. www.firstnightstpete.com or 727-823-8906.


Kick-off to the St. Pete Waterfront Centennial Celebration www.stpeteparks100.org
First Night/New Year's Eve at the Pier, 800 Second Ave. N.E.
Face painting (nominal charge) - 3 to 9 p.m.

Fireworks at 9 p.m. and midnight (Weather permitting). Sponsored by The Pier and the City of St. Petersburg.


Pier Aquarium Labyrinth at First Night
S. Straub Park. The labyrinth path was lit by luminaries created by students of local schools. Signs on the path and hanging from trees featured recycling facts and tips to become a better informed and ecologically conscious consumer. At the end of the labyrinth, walkers tied ribbons to a tree as a promise to GO GREEN! www.pieraquarium.org or 727-895-7437.
