Baking Party

You will cook up all kinds of fun when you invite all the little chefs over for a day of measuring, mixing and cooking!

Invitations

Send cupcake shaped  invitations:
"We're stirring up some excitement for  ____'s Birthday. We hope you'll  come for some measuring, mixing, and baking fun!

When the guests arrive, set the mood with a chef's hat

Decorations

A basic white table cloth to cover the table. Make a centerpiece with a balloon bouquet tied a rolling pin .  If possible, give a real cookie cutter  or wooden spoon to every child, attach a balloon to each one and place at their table setting. Instead of streamers, hang easy baking stencils.  Use your imagination with items you have already in your kitchen.  A chalk board or a white board can be used as a menu for the days fun.

Food

Let the little bakers create their own personal pizzas on English muffins. You'll need a jar of spaghetti sauce, shredded cheese, and pepperoni to keep it simple.

Games and Activities

Purchase cake mix, frosting and a variety of decorative toppings (this can include candy, sprinkles, colorful cereal, etc.).  Depending on the number of guests, you will either want to bake small, single-layer cakes (use an 8” pan) or scoop the batter into a cupcake pan for miniature cakes.  Once completely cooled, the little bakers are ready to get creative.  Have all the guests sit at a table that’s either outside or on a large drop cloth.  Have little dishes of different colored frostings and plastic spoons available where everyone can reach them.  Additional dishes filled with toppings should also be spread around the table.  Now each chef can have their very own birthday cake and eat it too!

Games to keep busy while the cake is cooking:

Hot Rolling Pin

Played like hot potato

Pin the Mustache on the Chef

Played like pin the tail on the donkey

Guess the Kisses

Fill a small jar with Hershey Kisses (count them first!)  Have each guest write down how many kisses are in the jar.  The one who guesses closest to the actual number get to take the jar home!

Favors

Cookie cutters,  paper chefs hat, small rolling pin
