Bead PartyThis can be one groovy gig! Cool chicks of all ages dig beads. Invitations Cut out a smiley face or flower and add: I’m celebrating my birthday with beads and think it would be far out if you would join me. Decorations Decorations can be as simple as colorful balloons, streamers and signs. Better yet, go with the hippie theme. Tie-dyed items, lava lamps, black lights and posters, and some cool music will get everyone in the mood. Food Pizza and popcorn are a must for this hip and happening affair. Colorful juice or soda with different colored ice cubes will add some cool color. Make a funny-face cake by frosting a round cake yellow and adding Oreos for eyes and licorice for the smile or decorate cupcakes with a frosting flower or add flower shaped sprinkles. Games and Activities This party can be adjusted for younger girls by using pony beads and elastic string or for older girls by using glass or crystal beads, wire and clasps. Provide an assortment of beads (including various colors and shapes), charms, and clasps for your guests to select from and let their imaginations go to work. Projects can include bracelets, necklaces, chokers, anklets, rings, headbands and even bead curtains, lampshades or key chains. All the hippie-chicks will have a blast creating their accessories and you’ve provided party activities and favors all in one! If you prefer to take the party on the road, many bead supply stores also offer parties. Some supply not only the wide assortment of beads and accessories, but also provide space for creating and eating. But keep in mind that special beads and charms can be quite expensive so costs can add up quickly.
