Beauty and the Beast PartyEven the guests will feel special at this party. An afternoon of elegance and enchantment will bring lots of smiles to the little beauties. Invitations Use a teapot motif and add: "Put on your smile and dancing shoes. We’re having a special celebration. CHILD”S NAME is turning AGE and we would like you to join us for the gala."
You can suggest that girls dress up for the party, offer a trunk of fancy dresses and accessories (visit local second-hand stores) or hire someone to bring a selection of dresses that can be rented for the day. Decorations Think royalty! Deep colors such as red, purple, green, yellow, and blue are the choice for balloons, streamers, and tablecloth. Use plenty of sparkle and shine to brighten things up such as glitter or sequin confetti, gold and silver curling ribbon, and twinkling lights (dig out those Christmas lights) to add to the festivities. Doilies, fancy lace-like napkins, and gold plates will help set the stage. And don’t forget the teapot, candlestick, and clock (check second-hand stores) to complete the look for this enchanting afternoon. Games and Activities Every beauty needs a Tiara so why not have the girls create their own. Pre-cut the Tiaras out of silver card stock paper. It’s not that difficult; simply cut a few points at the high front and taper it down to a narrower back. Then offer lots of glue, glitter, sequins, and gold gel pens for them to add the finishing touches. When it’s time to entertain, try one of these favorites:
Reaching the Rhinestone - Fill a salad bowl with rice and add 15 to 20 rhinestones. Each girl gets 30 seconds to find as many rhinestones as possible while blindfolded (use a fancy scarf or night eye cover). The winner is the one who gets the most rhinestones. But you can make them all winners by setting out a selection of rhinestones (plastic beads) and elastic jewelry string so each girl can make their own necklace.
Musical Throne – Decorate one chair with fancy ribbons and designate it as the throne. Play this game like musical chairs except remove chairs other than the throne every time you go another round. The winner is the child who finishes in the throne.
Pin the Crown on the Prince – Draw a picture of a Prince (a silhuette is fine) and cut out several different colored crowns (one for each guest). Blindfold the beauties and let them try to crown the prince. Favors Giving each beauty a rose, glitter make-up, fake jewelry, and fancy hair ribbons or clips will have them feeling special long after the party has ended.
