Construction Party

This theme is easy to build on.  Many kids already have plenty of trucks, tools, and construction toys to help make this a party a blast!

Invitations

"We’ll be breaking ground on TIME/DATE.  Foreman NAME is turning AGE.  We hope you can join the crew in building a great party".

Decorations

It’s time to break out the toys – trucks, backhoes, shovels, hammers, etc.  Set out hard hats and safety glasses (great party favors), cones, work boots, and gloves at the “construction site”.  Seal off rooms and areas not in use with “caution” tape and decorate the walls with constructions signs (i.e. roadwork ahead, construction site, hard hat area). Keep in the theme by hanging yellow and black balloons and streamers around the room.

Games and Activities

How do you keep your workers happy?  Give them a job to do:

Monster Truck Maze

Set up an obstacle course and time everyone going through it with a toy truck.

Tool Roundup

Hide assorted tools and constructions supplies throughout the room.  Then supply everyone with a canvas tool apron to collect them in and see who gets the most.  Toolbox Project - Purchase or make several pre-cut pieces of wood, supply nails and hammers and let the crew build their own toolbox.

Sand Bag Toss

Played like bean bag toss except have the kids throw them into a Tonka truck or wheelbarrow.

Hire or rent a dump truck or backhoe for pictures and climbing.

Arrange a trip to Home Depot for a kids building workshop (check your local store – they are offered free of charge on weekends).

Food

Hard workers get hungry so for that real foreman lunch, pack each child a paper bag filled with a sandwich, apple, drink and chips.  Follow up with dessert.  A construction site cake is easy to build:  bake a cake and cover with chocolate frosting.  Add crushed Oreos and chocolate chip cookies for the “dirt-y” look.  Now decorate with matchbox trucks and your project is complete.

Favors

Handy objects are always a big hit.  Tools, tool aprons, hard hats, mini toolboxes, and small trucks will make every member of the crew happy.
