Flower Power PartyA flower power party will sure to please any age girl. Invitations Cut flowers out of construction paper and decorate one side. One the back write the details of the party. Decorations Fresh flowers, flower table clothes and napkins and pastel colored balloons and streamers will make you feel like you are in a flower shop.
Food The food can all be served out of flower pots with new garden tools and punch can be served from watering cans. Dirt cups made from chocolate pudding, whipped topping, Oreos, and gummy worms are a great end to this fun party.
Games & Activities Allow each guest to decorate a small clay pot and plant seeds, re-plant a flowing plant or simply make artificial flowers. Depending on the guests’ age will determine how much they have the ability to do. For an older group of children you can have them decorate the pots with permanent paint or makers. For a younger crowd you can have the pots pre-painted or stickers can be used. Some ideas for artificial flowers include:
Lollipop flowers Cut out different colored construction paper flowers with a dye cutter and glue a lollipop on the center of each flower. Wrap the lollipop stick with a green pipe cleaner, using the excess to create leaves. Stick the flower in a piece of Styrofoam and place it in the pot. Cover the Styrofoam with extra pre-wrapped candy.
Pen flowers Use a silk flower that is to be taped onto the end of a pen. Wrap all the way down the pen in green floral tape. In the bottom of the pot, place a piece of Styrofoam and stick the point of the pen into it. Then put shredded brown tissue paper around it for the dirt. This flower lasts a lot longer and they can use it!
Fun foam flowers Have pre-cut flower pieces available (circle for the centers, petals of different colors, stems and leaves) for the guests to glue together and create their own flowers. These can be attached to a lollipop or Popsicle stick and be placed in Styrofoam in the pot. Plastic card holders available from your local florist and a construction paper made flower with the child's name on it will complete the flower pot.
Pin the petals on the flower - Cut out flowers, a sun, grass and shapes of kids. Blindfold the children and have them place the shapes on a blank piece of posterboard hung on a wall. They loved seeing the grass in the sky and the sun on the ground, so forth. Buzzing bees The children each got a headband that had 2 pipe cleaners and black painted Styrofoam balls on the ends. On the floor place large construction paper flowers that are laminated (place on less flower then the guests that are playing each round). Turn on music and let the children "buzz" around the room. When the music is off, they each have to find a flower to land on. The one who does not have a flower can play the music the next round.
Water the Plant The guests divide into teams. Each team sits in a single file line (one in back of the other). At the beginning of the lines there is a large bucket of water. The first person dips her cup (can be a little watering can or whatever) into the bucket and then without turning around has to pour the water into the cup of the person behind her. Then the second girl pours what water she got into her cup to the third person and so on until it reaches the end of the line where the few drops left are poured into a flower pot( or some other container). This continues at a somewhat fast pace until time runs out or the pot at the end is full (whichever comes first) Favors Besides the clay pots they will take home other party favors can include. flower stickers, flower seed packets, hair barrettes with flowers, and anything you can find with flowers or even ladybugs or bumble bees.
