Hot Wheels Party

A Hot Wheels party will have your birthday child racing for more fun.

Invitations

Make a car template with the details written on the back.  Another idea is to mail each guest that is invited a Hot Wheels car and ask them to bring it to the party so they can race it.  Also available are Hot Wheel invitations from Birthday Express

Decorations

With a white tablecloth or a large roll of white paper, cover a large table.  Draw lines for roads with black markers which will be a place the children can drive their Hot wheels.  If you have access to a large empty driveway or sidewalks, draw the roads with chalk.  If you need to do it inside on the floor use masking tape for the road lines.

Food

Racecar sandwiches – Cut bread into small rectangular pieces.  Fill with sandwich choice - peanut butter and jelly is a popular choice. Use raisins for wheels, a piece of Cheerios cereal for a steering wheel, and a pretzel stick tailpipe.  Also available is a race car pan from Birthday Express.

Games & Activities

Hot Rod

This game is like "Hot potato" except with a toy car.  Pass the car while  music plays and when the music stops call "Hot Rod". The player who is holding the car is out. To avoid hurt feelings, allow the player who is "out" the opportunity to run the music during the next turn. Have them only sit out for one game then switch with the next player who is "out".

Red Light, Green Light

The birthday child (they’re the Police Officer) stands in front of the group of children ho are lined up in one long line. The game starts when the Police Officer turns his back on the other players and shouts, "Green Light!" He then counts to five as loud as he can. While he is counting, the other players must walk quickly toward the Police Officer. When the Police Officer has finished counting to five he shouts, "Red Light!" and turns around quickly. The other players must freeze instantly. If the Police Officer catches anyone moving, they must return to the starting line. Play continues until one of the players crosses the line while the Police Officer’s back is turned. That player then becomes the Police Officer.

Hot Wheel Racing

Set up two or more race tracks using hot wheel tracks angled off of a table.  Allow the children to race the cars.  The winner gets to go onto the next race.  They can all be winners because they can keep the cars they are racing as a prize.

Favors

Hot Wheel cars, car stickers, and Hot Wheel fruit snacks will make a great goody bag.
