Pirate PartyAhoy, Mates! If your little buccaneer would love a little adventure for his or her next birthday, we have some ideas for you! You can stir up all kinds of fun with this birthday party theme!
Invitations Send
ship shaped invitations:
Decorations Pirate theme of red, white and black. A black table cloth to cover the table will look great. Make a centerpiece with a black, red and white balloon bouquet tied a sack of candy gold coins or small chest filled with candy or bead necklaces. Hang theme colored streamers or skull and cross bones stencils. With masking tape, place an X on the birthday child's chair (X marks the spot!). Remember balloons on the mailbox, and an X in your driveway is a nice effect. You can also decorate your straws by cutting out a skull and cross-bones from construction paper and gluing it neatly to the top of the straw.
Food Set out gold fish and popcorn for snacks in baskets lined with a black bandana. Use cocktail skewers shaped like swords to skewer fruit pieces and cheese cubes. Try making a treasure chest cake by scooping out the center of a sheet cake and filling it with candy and beads.
Games and Activities Treasure Hunt All children love to hunt for prizes. Give each guest a treasure map to find some hidden "treasure" around your house or in your yard. Hang bead necklaces from trees, and hide coins, eye patches, stickers and other prizes in easy to get to places around your yard. Their loot becomes their party favors as well! For younger children, bury treasure in your back yard sand box and have the little pirates dig for their bounty!
Sword Art Collect large pieces of cardboard (your local grocery store should be able to help with this). Cut out pirate swords. On a covered table, have glitter, beads, plastic gems and washable markers and have your party guests start decorating!
Hook the Treasure Using 16 oz colored plastic drink cups, cut an small hole in the bottom. Cut the top from a coat hanger and use electrical tape to cover any blunt ends. Next push the coat hanger top halfway down into the plastic cup. Place it over the child's hand for a pirate hook!. Now empty a large bag of pretzels into a bowl. See how many pretzels the kids can fish out with their "hooks" in 60 seconds.
A Parrot piņata will make a nice finishing touch to a Jolly day.
Favors Pirate booty of course! Cut squares of cloth and fill each with gummy fish, gold coins, mini telescopes, eye patches and bead necklaces. Tie with some twine.
