Snowman Party

A snowman birthday party will have all the guests wishing for snow in Florida.

Invitations

A snowman shaped invitation is easy to make out of construction paper.  Decorate one side with google eyes and buttons.  On the other side write the details of the party.

Decorations

Paper snowflakes are an easy decoration to make.  Since no two snowflakes are alike, just fold pieces of white paper different ways and cut out small pieces of the shape. Hang the snowflakes around the house with white thread.  The windows can be sprayed with pretend snow (available at oriental trading).  White balloons and streamers will complete the snow theme.

Food

A snowman cake is easy to make.  Simply bake three various sized round cakes.  Once cool, place them on a large cookie sheet in a snowman shape.  Frost with white frosting and add edible glitter.  Decorate with things such as a carrot for the nose, raisins for the eyes and mouth and gumdrops for the buttons.  Black licorice can be used for the arms and legs.  A non-edible hat can be added by using black foam.  Must be served with ice cream.

Games & Activities

Make you own snowman – provide each guest with three different sized styrofoam balls (these may be hot glued before the party in a snowman shape to save time), two google eyes, buttons, small hats, orange fun foam for carrot noses, small pieces of material for a scarf and various colored small pom poms.  Once the snowman is glued together, have the guests decorate the snowman with the other materials.  To allow your snowman to stand, shave off a small portion of the bottom of the largest ball to make it flat.  Hot glue it to a small piece of cardboard.  This cardboard can be covered with cotton balls to look like snow.

Pin the nose on the snowman.  Draw a large snowman on a large piece of craft paper and decorate the snowman with everything except a nose.  Cut out enough noses out of orange construction paper for each guest.  Blindfold each guest and spin them a couple of times.  The one closest to the nose is the winner.

Empty snow globes can be purchased and filled with snapshots from the party (a group picture on one side and each guest with the birthday child on the other) and water with glitter.

Favors

In addition to the crafts and pictures, snowman stickers (oriental trading) and snow caps will complete the goody bags.
