Elegant Tea Pary

A tea party is the perfect theme to allow your little princess a place to play make believe and dress-up while practicing manners and being polite.

Invitations

Paper teapot invitations will be a big hit for all of your invited guests. You can draw each one freehand or make one on heavier card stock and use it as a template. Write the party greeting on the front and the date, time and other particulars on the back. Cut out a tea bag "tag" on which to print "Bring a teddy bear, stuffed animal or doll." Staple one end of a short string to the tag and the other to the teapot top, and the invitation is ready to pop in an envelope to mail or deliver.  Preprinted Dainty Tea party invitations are also available from on-line merchants.

Decorations

The table is the most important part of this party so have it decorated when the guests arrive.   Use pretty colors and floral prints for the tablecloths and napkins.  You can use things you already have, buy new supplies or have a professional tea party company come in to decorate (click here for businesses in your area).  Other decorations that will make the guest of honor feel special include paper doilies, pink & white streamers, fresh flowers and silver foil balloons.

Food

Finger sandwiches filled with PB&J or ham (cut the crust off the sandwiches, add the stuffing and cut them into fourths – either in squares or triangles), cheese cubes stuck with pretzels, tea cookies and mini cupcakes will make this a complete tea party. Fill a fancy teapot with herbal iced tea, lemonade or even hot chocolate.

Games & Activities:

Of course all of the guests will need to be dressed for the occasion.  Upon arrival allow the guests to select their wardrobe from a dress-up box of outfits filled with old party clothes, hats and costume jewelry.  If you decide to use a professional tea party service, many of them have costumes available for all of the party guests.  Once everyone is dressed, take a Polaroid of each guest with her stuffed animal or doll.

A couple of fun projects the guests can do while they are waiting for the tea to brew include making frames and paper fans.  To make the frames have a piece of pre-cut card stock available for each guest.  The frame should be able to hold the Polaroid snapshot taken of each guest.  Have available small beads, buttons, gems, markers, crayons, glitter, and glue for each guest to decorate their own frame.  Once the frames dry, tape the snapshot of each guest in the frame.

For the paper fans each guest will need a piece of paper and a lacy doily.  Have each guest glue the doily to the piece of paper with a glue stick and fold the fan accordion style.

Favors

Find small inexpensive purses and fill them with things every little lady needs including costume jewelry, lipstick samples from local Avon and Mary Kay consultants, beads, clip on earrings, hair accessories, lip balm, or bubble bath.
