Tropical PartyThis popular theme works nicely around a pool party.
Invitations Send
palm tree invitations:
Have guests wear tropical attire (flower shirts or shorts) if possible. When the guests arrive, set the mood by placing a lei around each guest's neck and a hibiscus flower in the girl's hair (held on with a bobby pin).
Decorations Decorate the party room with tropical flowers, palm tree branches, and coconuts. A pineapple centerpiece and grass weave placemats are a nice effect. Set the mood with tropical music and lighting. Hang palm tree stencils or lights in place of streamers. Glue a small palm tree stencil to each guests straw or place little umbrellas in each drink.
Food Serve colorful skewers of pineapple, watermelon and other tropical fruits, cubes of cheese and grilled chicken cut into small bite-sized pieces. For drinks try tropical fruit punch or lemonade. Renting a shaved ice machine will be a nice touch.
Games and Activities Hawaiian "Hula" hoop contest Have each guest wear a grass skirt and start swinging those hips! The guest who hulas the longest wins! To make it harder for those experience hula hoopers, have them stand on one foot.
Water Relay Each guest given a bucket of water, an empty clear plastic cup and a spoon. Set the cup about 25 feet from the bucket of water. The first one to fill his cup with water using only the spoon wins!
Limbo Contest Buy doilies from the local home improvement store. Put on some tropical music and limbo away!
Hot Coconut Played like hot potato.
Sand Art Purchase small bags of colored sand and some clear plastic bottles. Guests layer colors of sand in their bottles and use wooden skewers to push sand along the side of the bottle to create cool effects.
Favors Grass skirts, leis, toe rings, tattoos
