Back to Kids Rooms Themes and Ideas Safari Safari is a wonderful theme for the little adventurer in your life. Use your imagination and go wild! Walls: For the look of a savannah, paint walls tan, ivory or even blue. Many safari themed borders and fabrics are available to compliment this theme. Work with the colors in the border but don’t get hung up trying to get an exact match. If you choose, find your courage and paint animals in yourself! For inspiration and ideas check out Debbie Travis Painted House Kids Rooms. This book shows you how to create a beautiful room for your children by just using paint...painting the walls, ceiling furniture, floor, rug, headboard, shelves, decorating accessories or whatever. Accessories: Bedding: Check out your local fabric stores for a wide variety of colorful animal fabrics. Use coordinating fabric to make pillows and valences. Try animal prints such as leopard and zebra or have safari animals charge across your child’s bed. To bring a very civilized yet exotic
look to your child’s bedding whether it has posts or not—suspend a
hoop canopy from the ceiling. Pre-made
canopies are available at many retail
stores including Domestications. Window Treatments and Shelving: Use coordinating fabric to create valances for this theme. Put finishing touches on your theme by using stuffed animals- lions, elephants, giraffes..- to adorn shelves and bookcases. Artwork: Special touches, such as child’s artwork, make a room. Have your child draw pictures of safari animals for the walls. Frame them in exotic frames with zebra or tiger print. In General: Encourage neatness and organization with safe, easy-to-use storage like a three tier, three section basket system. Plastic drawer dividers add extra sorting options for crayons and small toys. Involve your child in the process and create a kid’s room your whole family will love! |
